The Journey is the Reward
Did you know that approximately 250,000 street dogs live in Bulgaria? That, annually, 100,000 of them are killed most brutal in so-called “animal shelters”, beaten to death, strangled or poisoned?
Did you know that approximately 1,000,000 street dogs live in Rumania? That, annually, thousands of them are killed most brutal in killing stations for animals, beaten to death, strangled or poisoned?
Did you know that approximately 400,000 street dogs live in Greece? That, annually, about 10,000 of them are killed by toxic baits shortly before the upcoming holiday season?
Did you know that approximately 150,000 – 200,000 street dogs live in Portugal? That, annually, the majority of them is poisoned and shot dead?
Did you know that approximately 1,000,000 street dogs live in Italy? That, regularly, toxic baits are put down there?
Did you know that countless street dogs live in Spain? That, annually, about 100,000 animals are killed in “animal shelters”? That, partly, Galgos are allowed to be shot? That, annually, 300,000 dogs die from “accidents”?
Did you know that 1.5 million street dogs live in Hungary? That, annually, 30,000 – 40,000 dogs are killed in killing stations for animals, beaten to death, strangled, poisoned or starved to death?
Did you know that there are „dog pounds“ in Ireland, where, annually, about 50,000 animals are killed?
Did you know that there are „animal shelters“ in France, where, annually, thousands of animals are killed?
Did you know that there is an Animal Welfare Act in nearly all of these countries? But that this Act is simply ignored in many countries?
Did you know that there are folk festivals in some countries where it is an accepted custom to rape dogs and beat them to death?
We could go on like this, but this would not help one single animal.
If you made it to read up to here, if you made it to read about all these cruelties, you can no longer say: I didn’t know!
We, the „Pfotenhilfe Europa“, are animal rights activists and have allied to forge new paths.
Our aims are:
- National programmes of castration
- Creation of an animal welfare act that applies in the whole EU as well as it implementation and criminal prosecution for mistreatment and sodomy
- Restructuring of killing stations for animals in animal shelters
- Work permit for veterinarians in the whole EU
- Creation of the job “Animal Keeper” combined with the corresponding apprenticeship
- Information and the raising of awareness for the citizens in the countries concerned.
We know that we demand high standards, but every single killing station for animals that is changed into an animal shelter, every single animal abuser, who is brought to justice, every single castrated animal, counts!!!
We appreciate a soft spoken policy - some loud noises, however, cannot be avoided.
We are looking for animal rights activists who act in their own country. With their help, we intend to build an EU wide networking.
